Crusheen and Tulla-Bodyke must meet again

Crusheen  3-14
Tulla-Bodyke 3-14

The final minutes of this Hurling U-21 B quarter-final at Gurteen on Saturday were particularly tense with the lead changing hands on a number of occasions.
Crusheen looked to be on their way to the next round when they led by two with the game heading into injury time. Then David McInerney goaled for the amalgamation and they looked to be through to a semi-final date with Clooney-Quin, only for Jamie Fitzgibbon to strike the equalising point for the Clare senior champions.
Helped by a goal from Conor O’Donnell and six points from Jamie Fitzgibbon, Crusheen led at the break 1-8 to 0-8.
As the end of the third quarter approached they were just a point ahead, 2-10 to 1-12, after Colin Vaughan (Crusheen) and John Fitzgerald had goaled.
Sean Weir had Crusheen’s third goal while the East Clare combination’s second goal came from a David McInerney penalty. With the game in the final minute, Crusheen were 3-13 to 2-14 ahead. David McInerney won possession at midfield and soloed through before crashing a superb shot to the net.
Crusheen looked to be out but Jamie Fitzgibbon had other ideas and he quickly won possession and fired over his eighth point of the evening to tie up the game and set up a replay.
