Creativity to the fore for Keep Clare Clean Project

The adjudication, exhibition and presentation of prizes for the Golden Vale Milk Community Games Keep Clare Clean Awareness Project, sponsored by Clare County Council and Shannon Development, was held at the Civic Room, Waterpark House, Ennis on Friday evening last. The competition attracted a very good entry from throughout the county.

Photograph by Declan MonaghanThe purpose of the competition is to encourage young people to use their creativity and imagination to highlight the need and importance of keeping their communities and county clean and free from all types of litter. The competition takes the form of a poster or poem and is confined to children from U-6 to U-14 and includes a special category.
Judge Clodagh Kelly had a difficult time selecting winners as the standard was high. Presentation of prizes was made by Michael Guilfoyle, Mayor of Ennis. The MC was county vice-president Kevin O’Loughlin, Sixmilebridge, who acknowledged the sponsors, area secretaries and teachers who helped to run the competition. He congratulated all the competitors for their effort and participation. Cecilia O’Sullivan, Ennis, was the coordinator of the competition.
