County titles for Shannon and Guilfoyle

The Clare Athletics Association 10-mile Road Championships were held in conjunction with the Michael Sonny Murphy Memorial in (Kilnaboy) last week.
Michael Shannon (Kilnaboy) and Julio Cesear F Castro (Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare) set the pace for this race and Shannon pulled away at the three-mile mark and came home a very comfortable winner in 53.21.
Julio Cesear F Castro (Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare) won the silver medal in 56.39, with Thomas Garrahy (Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare) in third spot with a time of 60.21.
The men’s team title went to Kilmurry Ibrickane-North Clare with 35  points.
In the ladies’ race, Tracy Guilfoyle (Kilnaboy) produced another big race to claim the 10-mile title in 66.54 with Siobhán Lennon (Ennis Track) taking the runner-up spot in 67.10 and Imogen Cotter (Ennis Track) taking the bronze medal in 70.05.
The team title went to Ennis Track, with a total of 20 points.
