County board asks Cahill to stay on

OUTGOING Clare senior football strength and conditioning coach Micheál Cahill has told The Clare Champion that he has spoken with Clare County Board chairman Michael O’Neill and has been asked to remain with Clare in a similar capacity for 2013.

“Michael O’Neill has been in contact and he has kept me in the loop. The county board have reiterated that they would like to retain my services for next year.

“I gave them a deadline of the latest time I need to be starting physical preparation and testing. They gave me the green light that if the management wasn’t in place by then for me to go ahead prior to that date,” the Tralee-based Limerick man said.

“Like I said at the very start, I haven’t committed to Clare for 2013 because it has to be a shared vision. I won’t make any assumptions on who the manager will be.

“The people whose names I have heard thrown around, I don’t know any of them personally. I won’t be making any assumptions as to what their training philosophies are. It could be Giovannia Trappatoni I could be sitting down with next week in the West County. I’ll sit down and talk to him if that’s the case,” Cahill laughed.

“What I’m going to do is wait until the management team is in place. Hopefully it’ll be in place before the deadline I’ve set for physical preparation and again I’ll see if there’s a shared vision there,” he concluded.
