CLARE County Council will begin repairing roads damaged by the recent freezing weather next week, it has confirmed.

Many roads around the county were left with severe potholes caused by the cycle of freezing and thawing water in recent weeks.
“Repairs will get underway once the full complement of road staff returns next week,” a spokesperson from the council commented.
“The process of analysing the extent of damage caused to the local road network by the recent severe spell of weather will commence next week. Emergency maintenance works are carried out on an ongoing basis,” he continued.
Funding allocations for repairs and maintenance to the roads in the county for 2011 are expected to be confirmed by the Department of Transport in late January.
