CLARE County Council is to sell off almost 100 acres of land in Drumcliffe in a public auction next month. A guideline price of between €350,000 and €375,000 has been placed on the land, situated four kilometres north of Ennis.
Handling the sale on behalf of the council is Costelloe estate agents. The 37.3 hectares are situated close to the graveyard fronting the north side of Drumcliffe Road.
According to David Costelloe, the land has “enormous potential”. He is expecting a good level of interest at the auction on Friday, June 22 at 3pm in the Old Ground Hotel.
“The land has road frontage of about 120m, with extensive frontage to Ballyalla Lake, the River Fergus and the River Poulacorry. It is mixed land comprising upland, caucas and a small portion of forested area,” he explained.
“There is potential for one house at the front, subject to planning permission. It’s very well located with enormous potential for a house and to be upgraded into good quality agricultural land.”
The land is not zoned and will be put on the market from this weekend. According to Mr Costelloe, “This would be an ideal location for a farmer wishing to expand his current operation or perhaps a farmer looking to develop a residential holding.
“I think there will be a good level of interest in it as it’s a realistic reserve for a very well located farm with enormous potential for improvement and the possibility of a house.”
