Corofin 2-11
Clooney-Quin 0-7
THE line-up for the U-21B hurling semi-finals was completed last Saturday when Corofin proved too strong for Clooney-Quin at Gurteen.
The winners took control from the outset and they were well on their way to a semi-final date with O’Callaghan’s Mills when they led by eight points at half-time, 1-8 to 0-3, their goal coming from Kevin Heagney.
The winners’ defence held the upperhand throughout, while Fionn Clancy and Stephen Heagney held the upperhand at midfield.
While scores weren’t as plentiful in the second half, the winners continued to dominate and had the game’s second goal from Gearóid Kelly.
The introduction of inter-county U-21 footballer Killian Malone improved matters and he chipped in with a brace of points.
Peter Duggan was Clooney-Quin’s top scorer, contributing all but two points of their tally. In addition to Duggan, Clooney-Quin had points from Ryan O’Neill and Gary Duggan.
The Corofin defence dominated throughout, while up front Kevin Heagney and Damonn Malone were prominent, along with substitute Killian Malone.
