Connolly break-in

A COUPLE in their 80s were the latest targets of burglars this week, when their isolated farmhouse in Connolly was broken into in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred between midnight and 1am, when two people gained entry by smashing in windows.
It is understood the elderly residents were not subjected to any form of assault but Gardaí investigating the incident said they were “obviously frightened” by the intrusion.

“There were windows broken. It was an isolated farmhouse. It would appear that they were looking for cash. We are asking people to keep an eye on any elderly people living in their area,” a garda spokesperson said.

The couple managed to raise the alarm but the ordeal lasted a number of minutes.

Anyone who can assist gardaí with enquiries is asked to contact 065 6848100.
