Comfortable win for Newmarket Celtic B

IN the First Division League, Newmarket Celtic B travelled to Liscannor on Sunday and recorded a comfortable win over Moher Celtic.

 

The winners took the lead when Kieran Crosby scored from the penalty spot but the home side fought back to level before Newmarket struck again and led by 1-2 at half-time. Johnnie Daly scored Moher’s opening goal.

Early in the second half, the visitors went 1-3 in front but Moher struck for a second through Willie Murphy and were very much in contention.

Newmarket finished strongly and scored four in the final quarter to seal the points.

Martin O’Neill scored a hat trick for the winners and other scorers were Ciaran McCoy (2), Kevin Fehilly and Crosby.

TURNPIKE Rovers accounted for Shannon Olympic A in their First Division League tie at Lees Road on Sunday.

All of the goals came in the second half, with the opening score coming from Francis Franks 10 minutes after the resumption of play. Substitute Niall McMahon scored their second 15 minutes from the end and 10 minutes later, Ian Mounsey sealed all three points with their third goal.

A SHARE of the spoils resulted when Bunratty-Cratloe and Avenue United B clashed in the league on Sunday.

Avenue took the lead through a Shane Browne free kick in the first half but Michael Hayes hit back to level for home side, leaving the score at 1-1 at half-time. Bunratty-Cratloe hit the crossbar twice in the first half.

They took the lead after the break through Pat O’Halloran and then had the opportunity to go further ahead when they were awarded a penalty but Sean Hynan failed to find the target.

Avenue fought back and levelled through Mark Roche, who was outstanding and who saw two further efforts rebound off the crossbar. Eoghan O’Loughlin also saw an effort hit the crossbar in the second half.
