THE second annual BobFest, a celebration of Bob Dylan’s music, takes place on the ground of the Angler’s Rest, Clonlara this Saturday, the day before the man himself plays in Thomond Park.
The organisers are encouraging people who are going to the Bob Dylan concert to come to the BobFest and camp out overnight, as Thomond Park is only a 15-minute drive from Angler’s Rest.
Bobfest is an outdoor event and will feature musicians playing and singing his songs, as well as the screening of some Dylan-related visuals. There will be a late bar and hot food available as well as free camping and the use of a big car park.
“If you’re a musician and you have a love of Dylan, a musical instrument and some songs to sing or you just want to enjoy this one-day mini festival, then Bobfest is for you,” festival organiser, Keith Forde said.
Tickets for Bobfest are on sale at the Angler’s Rest, Doonass, Clonlara or at Euro Empire (formerly Empire Music), O’Connell Street, Limerick, or at the door on the day of the gig.
Among those performing at Bobfest are Keith Forde and Band, Siobhán O’Brien and Eamonn Hehir, Dem Fools, Brendan Markham, Rory Lennon, Goatboy, Joe Moloney, Keith Grogan, Monorail, Ivan Nicholas and Casino 489.
Bob Dylan himself will take to the stage in Thomond Park at 8pm this Sunday.
Supporting the headline act are Alabama 3, as well as David Gray and Seasick Steve. Special train services are operating from Ennis on the day of the concert.
Dylan will play some of his newer releases, including tracks from his latest album, Together Through Life. This album went straight into the Irish charts at number one and became one of his biggest albums worldwide, selling more than five million copies and earning Dylan two more Grammys.
Gates for the Thomond Park gig open at 2.30pm and a limited number of tickets are still available from www.ticketmaster.ie.
