Both finalists emerged from the group, also including Clondegad, which was based in Ennistymon on Saturday. Ennistymon defeated Kilmurry Ibrickane in the semi-final, which was played in Gurteen.

Although Cratloe tried very hard, Sunday’s final in the county grounds was quite one sided. Ennistymon were aided by a strong breeze in the first half and they used it to full effect. They led 1-7 to 0-0 at half time with centre-forward Ross O’Doherty scoring 1-3 in the opening 20 minutes. The Ennistymon captain scored the goal from the penalty spot, while Seán Rouine and Aidan McCarthy added their first half points.

Ross O’Doherty also scored Ennistymon’s second goal, while the same player, Tiernan Hogan, Cian Shannon and Daniel Considine tagged on their remaining points.

Showing plenty of heart, Cratloe scored three late points with Seán Ryan, Diarmuid Ryan and Tiernan Agnew finding the target.

Ennistymon will now travel to Derry on the weekend of June 28 to 30 where they will represent Clare at Féile Peil na nÓg.
