Clare writer to feature two plays at Galway Theatre Festival

TWO new one-act plays by Clare writer Siobhán Donnellan will be staged as part of Galway Theatre Festival 2011, which kicks off next week.
Dragonfly Theatre’s Siobhán Donnellan in collaboration with Bluepatch Productions will present Chasing Butterflies and In the Garden at The Nuns Island Theatre, Galway on Saturday, October 29 at and Sunday, October 30 at 1pm.
Siobhán graduated with a Masters in Drama and Theatre Studies from NUI Galway in 2006 and the following year went on to win the Outstanding Actor Award 2007 in the New York Fringe Festival for her role as Jo in Dragonfly’s debut play Married to the Sea. Since then, her other leading roles in theatre included the role of Mary in Mary Hegarty’s Last Dance and Vanessa in The Lost Weekend (The Axis, Ballymun).
She is currently undertaking the new postgraduate intensive performer training course at the Centre of Excellence, Queens University, Belfast.
Her play Chasing Butterflies was shortlisted for the Cork Arts Theatre Writers’ Week Award last year and won three production awards including; best director, best male actor and best female actor.
Meanwhile, In the Garden will receive its world premiere at Galway next week and besides Siobhán, the cast also includesBen Mulhern, Fiachra Ó Dubhghaill and Martin Maguire.
