Clare win six Munster awards

The Munster Athletics Association Sports Star Awards will take place at Rathkeale House Hotel, hosted by the Limerick Athletics Association, this Saturday, starting at 8pm.

Six Clare athletes will receive awards, Niamh Markham (Ennis Track) for the second year in a row and Ronan Barry (Marian) for Juvenile Track and Field, with the Junior Cross Country award going to Jean Clancy (St John’s), also for the second year in a row, along with Jake O’Regan (St John’s).

The Novice Cross Country award will go to Damian Landers (St John’s) and the Masters Men’s Cross Country award to James McIntyre (BMOH).

Niamh Markham (Ennis Track) is being honoured for her outstanding performances in winning the girls U-18 Munster Track and Field 400m, 800m and 1,500m as well as the Munster Junior Track and Field 400m.

Ronan Barry (Marian) Munster, finished second in the 200m and high jump and third in the 60m in the Munster U-16 Championships.

In the junior ladies, Jean Clancy (St John’s)  was the winner of the Munster Junior Cross Country for the third year in a row and Jake O’Regan (St John’s) is the Munster Junior Men’s 2011, 2012 Cross Country award winner.
