Clare senior camogie side face All-Ireland champs first in league

Clare’s Senior Camogie side will face three away trips as the fixtures for the Very Ireland Camogie Leagues have been released.

The Banner open their Division 1A campaign at home to reigning All Ireland champions Kilkenny on Saturday, February 18.

Clare secured a memorable 1-9 to 0-10 win over Kilkenny in the League three years ago. However, the Cats emerged triumphant when the sides met during the 2021 Championship and in League fare last year.

Seven days after their clash with Kilkenny, John Carmody’s side face the first of three successive games away from home when they travel down to Leeside for a clash with Cork.

Last year’s league game between the sides saw then Cork camogie coach Davy Fitzgerald sent to the stands after an altercation with Conor Dolan, who at the time was Clare’s joint manager.

On Saturday, March 4, Clare will face an away game against Galway.

They will then play Tipperary on away soil on Saturday, March 18. These sides met in the Munster Championship last year with Clare prevailing after a replay while the pair drew in the opening game of the All Ireland Championship last year.

Finally, on Saturday March 25 Clare face Dublin at home.

Clare’s Junior outfit will start their campaign on Saturday February 25. They host Down in their opening game of Division 3B before they enjoy home comforts against Limerick seven days later.

On Saturday March 18th, Clare will renew acquaintances with Antrim. The pair played out a classic All Ireland semi final last year with Antrim prevailing by a point after double extra time.

The Banner will host Dublin on Saturday, March 25 before their final group game sees them travel to play Offaly on Saturday, April 8.

Venues and times for both sides’ League games have yet to be released.
