Clare 1-17 Tipperary 2-9
The Clare minor camogie team secured their Munster final spot on Sunday evening in Sixmilebridge with an impressive victory over Tipperary, 1-17 to 2-9.
Clare got an ideal start to the match when Ellen Horgan goaled when her long-range shot drifted in over the heads of the Tipperary backs to the net. Tipperary however who may have been caught on the hop with Clare’s swift start were not to be outdone and registered four points, two apiece for Nicole Walsh and Sarah Cuineen. Chloe Morey levelled matters for Clare with a pointed free in the eighth minute.
Tipperary’s Maria Ryan was on hand to strike home the rebound after a goalmouth scramble in tenth minute. Clare had five more points on the board, three from Morey frees with Nikki Kaiser and Susan Fahy contributing from play before Tipperary’s Aoife Ryan pointed in the 23rd minute. Tipperary substitute Maria Ryan, who replaced Michaela Graham, raised her side’s second green flag in the 28th minute, leaving the final score of the first half to Clare’s Fahy, which left the half-time score at 2-5 to 1-7 in favour of the visitors.
Clare levelled matters when Morey pointed a free three minutes into the second half and both sides traded scores for the next 10 minutes before Clare, staring to dominate in midfield, hit three unanswered points to go two clear. Tipperary closed the gap to a point when Walsh put over a free mid-way through the half.
Clare hit five more points to put them firmly in control and on their way to their fourth consecutive Munster final, Clare now face Cork, who defeated Limerick, in the final. The game will take place on Easter Monday at 6pm in either Mallow or Charleville. It’s the fourth year in a row that the counties have met in this final.
