Clare players honoured by NUIG

GALWAY GAA hurling official Joe Byrne presented NUI Galway’s inaugural Player of the Year Awards at a special ceremony at the university on Monday night.

Three Clare hurlers figured among those who were honoured at the function. Éire Óg’s David Reidy was presented with the Fresher A Hurler of the Year Award. Kimaley’s Bryan O’Loughlin, for intermediate hurling, and dual player Conor Cleary, Miltown, who hurls with Kilmaley, both received special merit awards.

 

NUIG GAA officer Michael O’Connor, from Crusheen said, “This is part of NUI Galway GAA’s increased involvement with the community and the players that represent the university. NUI Galway is also involved in the sponsorship of man of the match awards in all Connacht hurling and football finals at second level to help showcase the best Gaelic games talent and highlight the games that take place at this level.”
