Analog Devices 1-14 Grant Engineering 1-7
AFTER many years of hard work, Analog Devices were crowned All-Ireland Inter-Firm champions on Monday evening. Analog travelled into the lion’s den of Offaly to take on home favourites Grant Engineering from Birr in an eagerly awaited final.
Grant got a great start scoring 1-2 in the first 10 minutes without reply. However, the Analog team have shown great heart throughout this campaign and were never going to lie down without a fight. Michael Clifford settled the nerves on 11 minutes with a well-struck point. Clifford was on target again on 15 minutes after good work from Conor Clancy created the chance. Clancy got in on the scoring on 20 minutes and the margin was down to two points. All the backs were playing well at this stage with Mike Weeks and Barry Duggan dominating. Clifford struck again on 25 minutes to put a point between the teams. Ruairi Maher struck a great effort from the middle of the park on 28 minutes to tie up the game. Grant finished the half stronger and scored two points in the last two minutes to leave the half-time score at 1-5 to 0-6 in favour of the Offaly team.
Grant increased their lead at the start of the second half with a long-range point. Clifford struck a point from a long-range free on 35 minutes and he went on to add some great scores to level the game before edging the Limerick side in front with 10 minutes remaining. He continued to cause problems for the Offaly outfit and when his free from 60m went all the way to the net, Analog were on the road to the title.
