Clare hopes high for Dublin Horse Show

The 139th annual Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show is fast approaching. Clare is well represented at the event as usual with 30 exhibitors bringing horses to the Ballsbridge show grounds over the course of the five days.

Lissycasey, as always, is putting forward a very strong show and will have three representatives there. Michael O’Callaghan, Vincent Meaney and Vincent O’Callaghan are all exhibiting young horses this year.
Michael O’Callaghan will show his unnamed two-year-old, Lux Z gelding in the Young Horse classes. Vincent Meaney will present his bay three-year-old gelding Coolnorraw Cody by Cobra in the Potential Event Horse Class and Vincent O’Callaghan exhibits his three-year-old filly by Lux Z, in the Loose Performance Class.
The Young Horse Classes aim to promote the breeding of correct, athletic horses with good movement and excellent conformation capable of excelling in the various disciplines.
The Potential Event Horse Class aims to identify the highly desirable, good looking horse with the potential for the discipline of eventing. With a total prize fund of €15,000 the competition has become an exciting opportunity for the exhibitors and spectators at the show.
The Loose Performance class aims to promote and provide an outlet for young horses likely to make high class showjumpers. It also seeks to identify performance fillies at a young age that may be beneficial to the broodmare herd. The judges will look for horses with a good technique and plenty of scope.
This year’s show will run from Wednesday, August 15, to Sunday, August 19.
