Clare clubs compete in Munster championships

CLARE clubs will be well represented at the Munster Senior, Junior and Masters Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will take place on Sunday at the Indoor Arena in Nenagh at 10.30am, along with the senior men’s long jump and walks for men and ladies.
Athletes from Ennis Track Club, Kilmihil, St Mary’s, Marian, St John’s, Tulla, St Cronan’s and Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare will take part in the championships.
Sunday will be busy for the athletes with the masters men and ladies events. The programme will consist of 60m, 200m, 800m, 1,500m, 3,000m, long jump, high jump, shot putt, as well as the men’s and ladies’ 4x200m relay.
Emer Hillery, Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare and Imogen Cotter, Ennis Track will be competing in the junior ladies, with Noreen Mackey and Sharon Rynne, Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare, contesting the senior ladies’ 1,500m and 3,000m.
Jason Fahy, Olympic Harriers; Rory Chesser and Micheal Keane, Ennis Track, will compete in the 1,500m and 3,000m senior men’s events, while Keith King, Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare will compete in the long jump, high jump, pole vault and triple jump.
Eugene Moynihan, Marian, will contest the masters men’s O-50, along with Michael Quinlivan, Tulla, while James Sexton, Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare, will contest the O-55 section.
Richard McArthur, St Cronan’s, and Tommy Greene, St John’s, will contest the O-45 60m, 200m, long jump, high jump and 200m, with Martin Fitzpatrick, O-50, and Stephen Herlihy, O-35, both St Mary’s, taking part in the shot putt and 56lbs for distance.
Mick Hayes, St Mary’s will compete in the masters O-80s shot putt and 35lbs for distance.
Ennis Track Club will be represented in the masters ladies by Ita Hanrahan, Hilda O’Connor, Siobhán Lennon, Deirdre Daly and Marian O’Loughlin, while Marie Coughlan, Kilmihil, will compete in the masters ladies’ O-50 section in the 60m, 200m, high jump and long jump and Cushla Murphy Hehir, Marian, will run in the masters ladies O-50 400m, 800m and 1,500m.
