The first edition of the current format for Miss Clare was held in 2010 when Alice Carroll from Parteen won the competition. Last year’s, Esther Woods, went on to the Miss Ireland Pageant where she was placed in the top 15 of 32 contestants.
Typically the pageant attracts approximately 18 to 20 contestants and the winner of Miss Clare will compete in the final of the Miss Ireland beauty pageant, which will be held on April 28 in Dublin. The successful contestant from that competition then goes forward for the Miss World final, which will be held in June in China.
There are five adjudicators on the judging panel for the Clare pageant and they will be looking for a stunning, well-spoken, confident lady with great personality.
“What the contest involves is a group interview that afternoon with judges, then that night the host will introduce each girl on stage for a quick interview. Once each contestant is interviewed they are narrowed down to the top five. Each girl is then asked one question from a judge of their choice and the top three are then announced,” event organiser Orla Sexton explained.
There will be exhibitors on hand from 7pm showcasing jewellery, make-up, handbags and lots more.
Breda’s Boutique will be providing the evening-wear for the participants, Allure Jewellers of Lahinch the jewellery, Ken Bradleys of Ennis will style the girls’ hair, make-up will be provided by Sinead Waters from Powder Puff Beauty Salon and Hilda Murphy, art of floral design, will provide floral arrangements.
