CLARE athletes won 11 gold, nine silver and eight bronze medals at the Munster Masters Ladies and Men’s Track and Field Championships, which were held recently at Cork IT, with the Juvenile U-12 to U-19 multi-events.
In the masters’ championships, gold medals went to Aishling Power, Ennis Track, in the O-40s 200m; Michelle O’Mahoney, Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare, in the O-45s 1,500m and Marian O’Loughlin, Ennis Track, in the O-50s 800m.
Richard McArthur, St Cronan’s, scored a treble in the O-45s section in the 100m, 200m and high jump. In the O-45s, Tommy Greene, St John’s, won gold in the high jump and shot putt.
Kilmihil’s John Dalton won gold in the O-45s 400m and Martin Fitzpatrick, St Mary’s, did likewise in the hammer O-50s.
In the U-12 to U-19 multi events, nine Clare athletes took part with medals going Tara Kelly, St Mary’s; Cliodhna Blake, St John’s; Laura Power, Ennis Track; Nollaig Blake, St John’s; Eoin Hanrahan, Ennis Track; Ruan Rooker, Shannon and William Flynn, Shannon.
