Charlie Chaplin film screenings

Car Tourismo Banner

TWO short films made by Charlie Chaplin for the Mutual Film Company between 1916 and 1917 are being screened in Ennis.
The Adventurer and The Immigrant will be shown in Glór on Thursday, August 4 at 7.30pm and are also being screened in Galway and Moycullen just as they were shown to the public in the early days of cinema.
The scores to the films were composed by Carl Davis and they have a widely acclaimed soundtrack.
In these films, Chaplin was given a larger degree of artistic freedom than he had in his earlier works. There is also a sense that he was short-story writing, in that not only did he work in feature length films, but that he could make masterpieces, as many believe these are, on a smaller scale.
Each film has its own unique character and atmosphere and within a group of 16 players, Davis was able to reflect all the various moods and orchestral needs that the films required.
