NEW Kilrush traffic bylaws, which were adopted at last week’s meeting of the town council, will come into effect on Monday, October 17.
The main changes to the current parking bylaws include an extension to the ‘grace period’ from 15 to 30 minutes. A ‘first resident’ permit is now available at an annual cost of €30, while a ‘second resident permit’ will cost €60. A business permit will be available at a cost of €30, while a seven-day permit will cost €20 and a three-day permit €10.
Aside from the ‘grace period’, short-term visitors will still have to pay for a parking ticket if they are parked in the same place for more than 30 minutes.
The draft bylaws were placed on public display from June 24 to July 25. A further period of two weeks was allowed up to August 9.
“No submission was received during this time,” Kilrush town clerk, John Corry told last week’s meeting.
Free parking is still available at Place de Plouzane, just off the town centre.
New casual trading bylaws have been operating in Kilrush since September 1. They were adopted by Kilrush Town Council earlier this year.
