Carmody takes up manager role

THE make-up of the Clare senior camogie management team for 2012 was finalised over the weekend.
Kilmaley’s John Carmody is the new team manager and he will be joined by Peter Casey (Burren), Trish O’Grady (Newmarket), both of whom will be team coaches, Flan McInerney (Sixmilebridge) and Patricia McCarthy (Inagh).
Carmody was coach of the Clare minor team for the last two years and prior to that was involved with the same group at U-16 level when they won the Munster U-16A title. He recently stepped down after completing his second term as Kilmaley senior hurling manager.
Trish O’Grady is a former Clare player, who has a long involvement with the Newmarket-on-Fergus club. She was the Clare goalkeeper for a number of years and more recently has helped guide Newmarket-on-Fergus to winning back-to-back county finals.
Casey is games development officer with Clare GAA and has been highly involved with the development of skills training at underage level over the years. McInerney has a long involvement with Sixmilebridge Camogie Club, coaching and managing teams from underage up to senior level.
Patricia McCarthy has a wealth of experience as a player and coach, having been instrumental in bringing Inagh to their recent Clare intermediate title in October and to Munster glory this week.
The new management will be putting their plans in place over the coming week, including drawing up a preliminary panel of players. They are in place for a two-year term with a review after the first year.
