Busy schedule for Ennis teenager

ENNIS teenager Dylan Casey is a talented young sportsman who is in big demand. In 2008, he was a leading light for Éire Óg’s U-14 hurlers and footballers and also with Avenue United schoolboys section.
Indeed, his prowess as a soccer player led to an interest from Leicester City and over the past year he has travelled over to Leicester on a number of occasions for coaching and games at the club.
This weekend, he will make his fourth trip to Leicester this season to play with Leicester City’s U-16 side. They have two games this weekend, against Manchester United and Bristol City and Casey is expected to play at least one, if not both games.
Before that, however, he will be part of the St Flannan’s College Dean  Ryan team, which will play St Colman’s, Fermoy in the semi-final of the Munster Colleges Junior A Hurling Championship on Thursday in Charleville.
The game was originally scheduled for Friday but earlier this week, the teams agreed to play on Thursday. Casey’s value as a hurler was highlighted last year when he won the National Féile na nGael skills title.
A member of Éire Óg, Dylan, whose father Ray was a member of the Avenue United side that contested the FAI Junior Cup final at the beginning of the ’90s, didn’t play Gaelic games this past summer as he concentrated on soccer. His decision to resume hurling will be welcomed by followers of the game in the county capital, in particular.
He is a key member of the Avenue U-15 side that is through to round three of the national U-15 Evans Cup and he will be hoping to inspire them to progress further in the competition in the coming weeks.
