Busy July of promotions for Clare Samaritans

THE Clare branch of the Samaritans is planning a range of events during the month of July.

On July 24 its volunteers will be having a 7km Talk To Us Walk around Ennis, promoting awareness of what the charity offers.

Samaritans Ennis and Clare Branch Director, Margaret MacMahon said, “We’re looking forward to spreading the word about Talk to Us in person this July.

“Now that the pandemic restrictions have lifted, our volunteers will be walking 7 km around Ennis at 7pm on 24/7 (July 24) to make sure people know that we are always available 24/7.

“It’s been a challenging few years and we know that many people are still facing all kinds of pressure, however, we want to remind the public that they are not alone.

“It doesn’t matter how great or small the problems feel, our volunteers are here at any time of day or night, whatever they are facing.”

The volunteers will be raising awareness of the Samaritans emotional support services and encouraging anyone struggling to reach out for help.

On July 9, Ennis man Peadar White will complete a stationary cycle in support of the Samaritans at the Height in O’Connell Ennis from 9am-6pm.

People can make donations online at idonate.ie or at a bucket collection on the day.

Any athletic individuals are invited to run a marathon during the month for the charity, while the less energtic are invited to make a donation to volunteer Ann Gillan who is running a ‘Samarathon’ and her efforts can be supported online at idonate.ie  or at samarathon.com

Alternatively a cheque or cash can either be dropped in or posted to Samaritans Ennis and Clare Kilrush Road V95 V004

Samaritans volunteers across the UK and Ireland spent over one million hours responding to calls for help last year and continue to be there for anyone struggling to cope.

Anyone can contact Samaritans for free at any time from any phone on 116 123, even from a mobile without any credit, or you can email jo@samaritans.ie.
