Burren pull hard for silver medals

THERE was outstanding pulling at the National Tug Of War Championships at Corofin on Sunday, which was hosted by the Burren Club, who claimed silver in Division 2.

Fifteen teams competed from Boley, Lakehill, Glenhill, The Valley, Boyneside, Burren, The Shop, Cuan Rithe, Streamtown, Ballinastoe, Ballinagh, Rockies, Inchnapough, Taughmaconnell and Grove.
The ladies 560kg was first with two teams competing from Ballinasloe and Boyneside, with Ballinasloe emerging as winners after a close battle.
In the combined 640kg Division 1 and Division 2, six teams competed, with Boley claiming the title against Lakehill.

The Division 2 final between Burren and Boyneside went to a three-ender, with Boyneside taking the first end. Burren came back and took the second but Boyneside won the toss and proved to be the stronger to take the third end, leaving the hosts with the silver medals.
