Buildings, Blocks and Bricks at patchwork exhibition

THE Mid-West Branch of the Irish Patchwork Society is hosting the 31st anniversary exhibition for the society in Limerick this year.

The exhibition, Buildings, Blocks and Bricks, will take place in Istabraq Hall, Limerick City Council, Merchants Quay, Limerick from October 2 to 12, Monday to Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

The society consists of national and internationally acclaimed members, who produce the highest standard in textile, contemporary and traditionally designed quilts, encompassing print, embroidery, hand-stitching and felting.

Members consist of a diverse group of ladies, as well as a few gentlemen from all over Ireland.
“We are honoured to hold the national exhibition here in Limerick and hope people will visit the exhibition. We are inviting all the schools and colleges to the exhibition.
“The exhibition will be manned by Mid-West members, who will be more than willing to discuss how the quilts are made and techniques used to the students.

“We especially hope that the schools and colleges will bring their students, especially their transition year and home economics students, to the exhibition and avail of this opportunity to see textile-related art,” Grania Preston, secretary, IPS Mid-West Branch said.

The official launch is on Friday, October 5 at 7.30pm and there is no charge for admittance to the exhibit.
For those interested in getting involved with the society, the Mid-West Branch meets on the second Friday of every month from September to June in the Limerick Baptist Church, Old Cratloe Road, Limerick.
