Bronze medal for Burren tug of war club in national championships

THERE was outstanding competition at Clonakilty on Sunday on the first day of the National Tug of War Championships.

Seven teams competed in the senior catchweight section – Lakehill, Boley, Boyneside, Clonmines, Shop, Burren and Araglin.

Lakehill topped the group, finishing on 18 points, without losing an end. In second place was Boley on 15 points, who only lost points to Lakehill. In the semi-finals, it was Lakehill versus Burren, which Lakehill took in two straight ends, leaving Shop to battle with Burren for the bronze medals.

Shop took the first end with Burren taking the second. In the decisive third end, Burren held firm and took the honours.
