’Bridge date for Foghorns

The Foghorn Trio, from the thriving old-time music scene of Portland, Oregon have announced details of their UK/Irish Tour to coincide with the release of their new album Sud de la Louisiane.

And as part of that tour, they will be performing in Sixmilebridge’s Mill Bar on Tuesday, May 10.
The Foghorn Trio is Stephen ‘Sammy’ Lind and Caleb Klauder, founding members of the Foghorn Stringband, and Quebec-born Nadine Landry. Alternating between fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo and upright bass, they perform traditional music with respect and energy. It’s a sound that could be coming to you from a big console radio in a 1930s living room or an Appalachian front porch; instead it’s being delivered by a group of players from Portland, Oregon. Together on their new trio recording, Sud de la Louisiane, the three musicians blend voices, repertoire and instruments to create a diverse performance true to the roots of American music.
The Foghorns play in unison, gathered around a single mic, no flashy picking or solos, carried along by their driving rhythms and fierce determination to keep traditional music alive and exciting. The band’s genuine enthusiasm for the music is making them a major name on the folk and old-time music circuit and they show their appreciation when they’re home by playing free Sunday night gigs at Portland’s Moon and Sixpence Pub.
