Bridge Celtic topple first-division leaders

BRIDGE Celtic made the long journey to Lahinch on Sunday and defeated league leaders Moher Celtic.

The home side started well and went two goals ahead through Johnnie Daly and Cohen Phillipson.

The visitors hit back and goals from Seamus Gleeson and Luke Turner had them level at 2-2 at the break.

Early in the second half, Kevin Scales put the North Clare side back in front and they almost doubled their lead but Johnnie Daly’s effort rebounded off the upright.  Seamus Gleeson then equalised before Wesley Fleming hit the winner for the visitors.

Bridge United A 4   Avenue United B 1

BRIDGE United A were comfortable winners over Avenue United B on Sunday.

Bridge were well on their way to victory at the halfway point when they led 3-0. They extended their lead early in the second half before Nicki Twumasai pulled one back for the Ennis side.

Scorers for the winners were Damian Murray (2), Darren Murphy and Stephen Steward.

Corofin Harps 4   Bunratty/Cratloe 1

COROFIN Harps maintained their place at the top of the Division 1 League with this win over Bunratty-Cratloe on Sunday.

In what was a very tight game, the all-important goal came from Eamonn Malone with 10 minutes remaining.

The sides will meet again this Sunday, this time in Round 2 of the Junior Cup.
