Bowling champions title for team of banking Bombers

Malley’s Bombers Bowling Team, representing AIB Bank, Ennis, are the 2011 Clare Bowling Champions following their impressive win at the Clare Leisure Centre in Ennis this week. 
Team members Kieran Considine, John O’Malley, Glen Burke and team captain Michael Sharkey amassed a credible score of 541 pins in the final to capture the 2011 title and collect the AIB Bank Perpetual Cup from Tony Barrett for the first time. 
Second place went to Electric Shock, comprising Adrian Williams, Arek Chanassinski, Eugene McNamara and Dermot Bradley, representing Ennis Electrical, with a score 444 pins. The Roche Clarecastle team, who were former champions, finished in third place with 438 pins while Kildysart Katz team, led by captain and Kildysart native Patricia Donnellan, held on to capture the fourth prize with a score of 420 pins.
Ronan Fox (Michael Houlihan & Partners) with a score of 162 pins, Patricia Donnellan (Kildysart Katz) 147 pins, Kieran Considine (Malley’s Bombers) 146 pins and Liz Smith (Intel Shannon) with 97 pins won the individual prizes. 
The Clare Bowling Championship was inaugurated in 2005 and is organised by the Ennis-Phoenix Twinning Board. For over 20 years, Ennis and Phoenix, as twinned cities, have been engaged in numerous projects that have primarily focused on educational, artistic and cultural endeavours.
Projects, which have included the reciprocal exchange of teachers, students, professionals and technical personnel, have contributed to the cultural enrichment of both communities.
