AN Ennis businesswoman helped to make a dream wedding for Irish rugby captain Brian O’Driscoll and actress Amy Huberman at the weekend.
Wedding planner, Kate Deegan, landed the plum jobs of helping the celebrity couple plan their big day, in Lough Rynn, Leitrim on Friday.
Kate runs wedding planning service Co-ordination Made Easy and was voted as wedding planner of the year in 2009 by Realweddings.ie and shortlisted as one of Ireland’s top 100 wedding suppliers in 2009 by weddingsonline.ie.
Speaking after Brian and Amy’s wedding this week, Kate said that the wedding was amazing. “I worked very closely with the couple and listen to what they would like. They had some very clear idea of what they would like and then in some areas I was able to give direction and suggestions of which were taken on board.”
On the morning of the wedding, Kate had intimate access with the bride helping Amy into her wedding dress.
Kate said that Amy was “so lovely and relaxed” and that the atmosphere was great.
On the way to the church in Leitrim, Kate said that the roads were lined with well-wishers with banners, cheering them on, which she found “very special”. She added that she was thrilled that Brian and Amy were very pleased with their wedding.
Kate explained that she got the high profile job following a recommendation from a friend of Amy’s who had her wedding reception at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin in May of last year. She said, “I was of course thrilled with the thought of coordinating their wedding.”
