Ballynacally Fun Run a great success

The first Ballynacally four-mile fun run was held in Ballynacally Village was a great success. Money raised will go to the community centre fund.

 

In fine weather conditions, 240 competitors took part on a day when Colin Daly (Ennis Track) and Anthony Boyle (Shannon) went through the first mile in 5.40 with John Murphy (Ennis Track) and Sean Hill (Fergus) leading the next chasing group that included Brian Comyns (St John’s), Derek McMahon and Derek Lynch (both Fergus).

The big move was made by Daly at the two-mile mark and from here on he dominated this race to take the title in 23.03, with Anthony Boyle holding onto to second spot in 24.11 followed by John Murphy (Ennis Track) (24.40) with Sean Hill fourth and he was the first local man in (25.24).

The ladies’ race was dominated by Tracy Guilfoyle (Kilnaboy), who crossed the finishing line in 25.41 with Bernie Harte (South Galway) second in 28.13 followed by Lorraine Hayes (Ennis Track) (28.31) while the first local was Áine Garry (Fergus AC) in 29.55.
