Bad weather doesnt’t dampen spirits or style


Inclement weather was the order of the day for the conclusion of the Cumann na mBunscoil Clare hurling and camogie finals at Cusack Park last Thursday but this did not prevent the teams involved from providing lots of entertainment for the patrons
As was the case on day one, there was lots of exciting play and some extremely lively finals.

Ennis CBS         1-5
Cratloe         0-4

Ennis CBS retained the Division 1 hurling title when they accounted for Cratloe.
Corner-forward Matthew Davenport scored the game’s only goal, which proved crucial. He added two points, while Cathal Ruane had three points with Eoghan Foudy getting the remaining score.
Billy Connors scored three of Cratloe’s four points with the remaining score coming from Diarmuid Ryan.

The Division 2 hurling final produced a cracking contest with Ingh-Clounanaha emerging as winners by a goal.
Aidan McCarthy, Liam Hehir and Jason Devereaux were the goalscorers for the winners, while Knockanean had their goals from Niall and Cian Galvin.

The Division 4 final was a cracking contest with Kilmurry emerging as two-point winners, picking up their third Clare schools’ title in succession. They had to defend strongly in the closing stages as Quin piled on the pressure in search of a winning goal.
Tiernan Agnew sparkled for the team scoring 4-3, while the remaining two goals were scored by Cillian Custy.
Alan Culligan hit 1-8 for Quin with Harry McCarthy scoring two goals.

Despite a period of extra time, Barefield and Ogonnelloe failed to produce a score in the Division 4 camogie final. The teams were evenly matched throughout on a day when defences dominated. A replay is expected to take place this week
