B title for Scariff-Ogonnelloe

Scariff Ogonnelloe 2-13   Killanena 0-2

This U-14B final was played in Bodyke in very hot conditions on Saturday afternoon. Scariff-Ogonnelloe started well when the first attack of the game, a shot by Aoife Power came off the crossbar, but the rebound was gathered quickly, and sent over the bar.

They grew in confidence from here, with great work by Amy Barrett, Aoife Maloney and Katie Minogue, and tough battling by forwards Suzanne Costello and the Daly sisters, resulting in three more unanswered points. Killanena fought back and won a 45 which they duly pointed.

This gave them momentum and they followed with a goal. Scariff-Ogonnelloe then lost centre-forward Sorcha O’Donnell, due an ankle injury, but despite this they drove on and had two more points from Aoife Power, leaving the half-time score at 0-6 to 1-1 to Scariff-Ogonnelloe.

In the second half, captain Bríd McMahon from goals to the centre-forward position, and scored a point within minutes. Scariff-Ogonnelloe piled on the pressure, with the midfield pairing of Amy Barrett and Holly McGee sending good ball into the forwards.

A 45’ taken by Killanena goalie Shauna Canny dropped short, and was cleared by Amy Barrett, passed to Aoife Power, who soloed down the field and struck for a goal before Shauna Canny had resumed her position.
Scariff-Ogonnelloe were on top from here on adding a goal and two points from Amy Barrett and another point each from Bríd McMahon and Aoife Power.
