THE season ended on a high note for Connolly Celtic when they defeated Bridge Untied A at the county grounds on Wednesday evening last.

Having captured the first-division title with victory over Rhine Rovers at the same venue a week earlier, the newly promoted premier outfit came from behind to add the Clare area FAI Cup to their collection.
Beaten in the cup semi-final a few days earlier, Bridge United were keen to end the season with a win and they started brightly and took the lead with a Darren Murphy goal.
Connolly Celtic fought back and following a Kieran Dillon cross, Bernard Field levelled the tie.
Extra time was looking likely as the full-time whistle approached but there was time for another goal and it came to Connolly through experienced Mickey Byrnes who hit the winner with time almost up.

Mountshannon retain premier status

MOUNTSHANNON Celtic secured their place in the Premier Division for next season with this play-off victory against promotion chasing Bunratty-Cratloe A at The Cragg last Wednesday.
The first-division outfit took the lead just before half-time through substitute Ally McMillan who had replaced the injured Michael Hayes.
The premier outfit called on all their experience in the second half and they hit back with goals from Kevin Dooley and Keelan McNamara to retain their place in the top division for the new season.
