A one-point win over Clarecastle at Shannon last Saturday evening earned Newmarket a place in the Division 3 Intermediate Hurling League final. The final score was 0-14 to 1-10.
Less than 24-hours later the Newmarket seniors won their league semi-final completing a great treble for the club, as their juniors have already got through to the final where they await the winners of this weekend’s Scariff v Feakle replay.
Newmarket are also awaiting the outcome of another replay before learning who they will face in the Divsion 3 final after Inagh-Kilnamona and Cratloe played an 0-18 to 0-18 draw on Saturday. They will replay on Monday.
Junior B Championship
Seven second round games in the Junior B Championship were played at the weekend.
Inagh-Kilnamona finished strongly to secure a one-point victory, 2-7 to 1-9, over Newmarket on Sunday evening at Clooney.
A point was also the margin when Crusheen and Ruan clashed at Crusheen on Tuesday evening, with the home side emerging on the right side of an 0-8 to 0-7 score.
Whitegate had a goal to spare (1-10 to 0-10) over Corofin on Sunday. On the same day Éire Óg were 1-15 to 2-9 winners over Wolfe Tones, Scariff beat Ballyea 1-19 to 2-12 and Tubber were 4-14 to 1-6 winners over Smith O’Brien’s. The opening tie of the weekend saw Broadford score a 2-16 to 2-7 win over Kilmaley on Friday evening.
Junior C semi-finals
Feakle and Clonbony secured their places in the semi-final of the Junior C Hurling Championship when they defeated Ogonnelloe and Banner at the weekend. They join Clarecastle who had booked their place two weeks ago.
Feakle had two points to spare over Ogonnelloe (1-10 to 2-5) while a point was the margin of victory for Clonbony over Banner (3-7 to 2-9).
The remaining place will be filled by O’Callaghan’s Mills or Sixmilebridge.
