Annagh/Scropul retain 7s title


THE Cumann na mBunscol Executive organised the Primary Schools INTO Mini 7s Boys Football Competition over the last number of weeks, with the finals hosted on Tuesday by Gaelscoil Mhíchíl Cíosóg at Gort Road, Ennis. 
The victorious Annagh/Scropul Mini 7s panel.The six winners of the qualifying groups competed in the finals – Annagh/Scropul, Lahinch, Ennis, Knockean,  Scoil Chríost Rí and Gaelscoil Mhíchíl Cíosóg.  The final saw Annagh/Scropul emerge victorious over Lahinch on a 5–12 to 1–4 scoreline. 
The members of the winning team are David Sexton (captain), Diarmuid King, Daniel Walsh, Dermot Coughlan, Caoilfhionn O’Dea, Zack Whelehan, Damien Lynch, Saul Boyd, Adam Burke, Tadhg Flynn, David Montgomery, Mark Murrihy, Seán Sexton, Flan Cunningham, Niall Downes, Conor Sexton, Brendan Sexton, Paul Vaughan and Rhys Cunningham.
Annagh/Scropul have now won back-to-back Mini 7s titles, playing some spectacular football and displaying superb team work along the way.
Tom Glynn of Ennis National School performed one of his final duties after a long and distinguished career in education when he presented the cup to captain, David Sexton.
The Cumann na mBunscol Executive wished Tom a long and happy retirement and thanked him and all recently retired teachers for their commitment to the promotion of the game.
The captain David Sexton acknowledged Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Executive, teachers, parents and the Gaelscoil for the use of their pitches. Gerry Keane and Flan O’Reilly refereed on the day. 
The Mini 7s Girls Football finals were held in Clarecastle on Wednesday with Scoil na Maighdine Muire from Newmarket-on-Fergus, Kilkishen, Clonmoney, Annagh/ Mullagh, Lissycasey and Gaelscoil Mhíchíl Cíosóg participating.
On this Thursday, Gaelscoil Mhíchíl Cíosóg will host eight teams from An Gaeltacht and Gaelscoileanna in a Munster Ladies Football Seven-a-side Competition. Teams for Cork, Kerry, Waterford, Tipperary and Limerick will be represented. 
Eamonn Ryan, the Cork senior ladies manager, will also take a skills session on the day.
