GUNNA Dan, An Angel for Everyone is the title of retired school teacher Patrick Moloney’s latest book, copies of which have been recently presented to Clare County Library.
Born in Shanagolden, Limerick but now living in Inagh, Patrick has a background in the sciences and philosophy. He wrote this book as a way of empowering people to become more optimistic and spiritually sure about themselves and their lives.
“A book like Gunna Dan, An Angel for Everyone, is badly wanted in the Ireland of today. There is too much anger and crossness all over the country. Unfortunately, this crossness and this anger will remain with us, with our children and our grandchildren, unless and until we purposefully decide to abandon it. Our power to do anything about it will remain enfeebled unless we think more and unless we think better,” said Patrick.
The book tells the story of a retired school teacher who goes to live in the countryside of County Clare.
The teacher gets to know a recent immigrant, an enigmatic character named Gunna Dan.
“The hapless and helpless visitor begs to be told what life is all about in his new adopted abode and what it is that gives meaning and purpose to our existence here on planet earth.
“What follows is a powerful exposition of discussion and argument. We witness a revelation of thoughts and ideas. We experience the pursuit of knowledge close up,” said Patrick.
