All-Ireland Championships in Derry

`The Athletics Association of Ireland Juvenile B U-11, 13, 15, 17, plus intermediate men and ladies and masters men’s and ladies’ cross country championships will take place in Gansha Park, County Derry this Sunday, starting at 11.30am.
Clare will, once again, be very well represented by athletes from St Cronan’s, St Mary’s, St John’s, Marian, Tulla, BMOH, Ennis Track, Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare, Kilmihil and Shannon.
The juvenile programme will start at 11.30am and will be followed by four senior races, with the masters ladies’ 4,000m at 1pm, followed by the masters men 7,000m at 1.20pm, the intermediate ladies’ 4,000m at 1.50pm and the final race of the afternoon will be intermediate men’s 10,000m at 2.10pm. Clare will be fielding a very strong intermediate men’s team, with St John’s taking part in the inter-clubs. In the masters men O-50, Clare were bronze medal winners last year in Boyle, County Roscommon.
In the Munster cross country, Clare AAI road champions St John’s will be led by Kenneth Rodgers, Dermot Galvin, Damian Landers and Jake O’Regan. In the Masters’ men’s O-50 team event for both county and club, Clare have always been in the top three. Eugene Moynihan (Marian) and James Kenny (Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare) will lead the Clare team along with Ambrose Heagney (Kilnaboy), Iggy Landers (St Cronan’s), Tom Mackey, James Sexton, Michael Harvey (all Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare), Tom Madden (Marian) and Michael Fennell (Civil Service).

Intermediate men 10,000m: James Liddane (BMOH), Keith Lynch (BMOH), Joe Mooney (BMOH), Kenneth Rodgers (St John’s), Damian Landers (St John’s), Dermot Galvin (St John’s), Jake O’Regan (St Johns), Brian Kinsella (St John’s), David Brew (St Johns), Kevin Egan (St John’s), Brian Egan (St John’s), Paul Gallagher (St Finbarr’s).
Masters men O-50 7,000m: Eugene Moynihan (Marian), James Kenny (Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare), Tom Mackey (Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare), Michael Harvey (Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare), James Sexton (Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare), Ambrose Heagney (Kilnaboy), Sean Whelan (Ennis Track), Tom Madden (Marian), Iggy Landers (St Cronan’s), Michael Fennell (Civil Service).

Munster Convention
The Munster Athletics Association will hold its annual convention at the Auburn Lodge Hotel, Ennis, this Friday at 7.30pm. The event will be hosted by the Clare Athletics Board.
The following Clare officers will be seeking re-election: Michael Lillis (Kilmihil), Munster cross country secretary for the past four years; John Devine, (Kilmihil), vice-chairman for the past nine years and Clare and Munster PRO James Sexton (Kilmurry Ibrickane/North Clare).

10 The John Minogue Memorial 8k Road Race in Miltown Malbay, starting at 12.30pm, with the 80k, 40k, 10k cycle at 10am.
16 Cooraclare 10k road race and fun walk in aid of Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland and Cooraclare Community Centre in Cooraclare, starting at 12noon.    
17 The Riverlodge Health and Fitness four-mile fun run at the Auburn Lodge Hotel, Ennis, starting at 11am.
16-17 AAI Senior Indoor Championships in Athlone.
