The Aillwee Cave has proved its popularity with children and families, recently scooping a Primary Times Star Award.
Another Clare favourite, Bunratty Castle, was also recognised in the awards voted for by parents of children under 12 in Ireland.
Readers of Primary Times, a free family magazine and website, voiced their views on the country’s most family friendly firms and scored their favourites on customer service, facilities, choice and value for money.
The Country’s Best Family Visitor Attractions reveal, by region, who is tops with families searching for service and value, as well as entertainment.
Aillwee Cave, along with Bunratty Folk Park, both earned awards and were named the best in the Western region for specific seasonal activities. They also made the top three in the Best Family Visitor Attractions in the region.
Bunratty Folk Park was deemed to have the best Haloween event in the West while Aillwee Cave won Best Santa Visits in the West region.
More than 2,000 parents nominated their favourite attractions and according to Primary Times, the awards provide a vital snapshot of what’s popular with families in a harsh economic climate.
Speaking on behalf of Aillwee Cave, Barbara Faulkner, marketing manager, said, “We are delighted to have won these two awards. Thank you to all the families that voted for us and indeed to all the staff here at Aillwee Cave and the Burren Birds of Prey Centre.”
She added “We do our utmost to ensure all of our visitors have a very memorable visit, a great day out, offering great value for money and by receiving this award it shows that we are doing just that.”
