A lot to play for in final round

The final round of games in the seven football league divisions take place this weekend and come Sunday evening the way should be clear for the play offs in each division while the issues regarding relegation should also be decided.

This year’s format sees the top team in each division go into the final with the second and third placed teams meeting in a semi-final with the second placed team enjoying home advantage.

In Division 1 (Cusack Cup) five teams are still in with a chance of making it to the semi-finals. Ennistymon and St Joseph’s must win their final games against Kilmurry-Ibrickane and Éire Óg respectively to keep their hopes alive.

Going into round seven, Éire Óg, Kilmurry-Ibrickane and Miltown St Joseph’s share top spot, all on nine points.

The relegation issue has already been decided with Shannon Gaels and Kilrush making the drop. They meet in the final round this week.

In Division 2 (Garry Cup), Liscannor are top and sure of a place in the final. Lissycasey secured their place in the play offs on Tuesday evening when they defeated Cratloe and they will play Clondegad in the semi-final.

There is much to play for also in division 3 with a number of teams still in contention for play off places. Meelick have been relegated with Coolmeen, Kilfenora and Wolfe Tones battling to avoid joining them.
Michael Cusacks are through to the final of Division 4 and they have earned promotion. Lissycasey will contest the semi-final against either Doonbeg or O’Callaghans Mills who clash this Saturday. Any two of five can still be relegated from this division.

Clondegad have reached the Division 6 final with a number of teams in contention for the semi-final places. Corofin have been relegated. Kildysart, Moy, Ennistymon and Killimer are battling for the play-off places from Division 7.

This is how the tables look going into the weekend’s games.
