“This year, we would like to see even more people getting involved. Anyone who wants to join in the celebrations should be deciding now which classes they are going to enter. This year again, we have lots of categories for people interested in horses, photography, dogs, baking, flowers, vegetables, crafts, art, children’s classes, pets and poultry and more,” explained Amanda Anderson, show secretary.
“This year’s show is being held on Sunday, August 7, and is a very special event as it’s the 30th year that the Gort Show has been held since it was restarted in 1981. There are still some of the original committee members from 1981 as well as exhibitors who have been entering classes and winning for the entire 30 years. One lady will be entering a potted plant that she also entered in 1981 and has lovingly tended for the last 30 years. There are also people now in their 30s and 40s who originally entered as children, who now take part as adults so it is a truly local and family day’s entertainment,” Ms Anderson continued.
“For anyone who would like a schedule as soon as they are published, or for people who wish to enter classes, or want to enquire about a trade stand or advertising in the catalogue, then please contact myself. We would also like to hear from any person or business who may be interested in sponsoring a class or section or who would like to like to help with the practical running of the show,” she concluded.
