Clare fans celebrate another point at Croke Park.

O’Donovan saves the day for Clare

Clare 0-25 Cork 3-16 It was heartstopping stuff. For the majority of this All-Ireland senior hurling final Clare were the better side yet they ended up having to get the equalising point in injury time. Few would have written the script for this enthralling contest and fewer still would have predicted that the equalising score would come from corner-back Domhnall O’Donovan. The Clonlara man who was outstanding throughout came up-field as the game just past the scheduled two minutes of injury time. He took a pass from his clubmate Nicky O’Connell and from the 45m line on the Cusack Stand side of the grounds, he floaded the ball between the uprights. It was the least Clare deserved from a game they dominated for long periods. Clare held a two-point advantage (0-12 to 0-10) at half time but, in truth, they should have been further ahead. Fitzy proud of his players

Clare manager Davy Fitzgerald told the post match press conference that he was extremely proud of his team. Clare drew the All-Ireland final, thanks to a dramatic injury time point from corner back Domhnall O’Donovan. When Pat Horgan gave Cork the lead in injury time it was the first time that the Jimmy Barry Murphy managed team had lead during what were 70 pulsating minutes. “It just showed what character and what steel is about. I am so proud of my guys. Whether they win, lose or draw the next day, I don’t give a damn. That’s being honest. There was a lot of tough things went against them out there today. I won’t say unfair. The great escape

In a nail-biting finish, Clare came within a whisker of losing the All-Ireland final when Cork went into a one point lead in injury time. However, Donal O’Donovan ave the day with a brilliant score to draw the game. The replay is on September 28.  It was nerve tingling for Davy. It would have been disastrous for Clare to lose.

Golf Sportsvan Concept to be unveiled at Frakfurt

New Volkswagen concept takes on Golf Plus mantle

Volkswagen will unveil their Sportsvan concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week. It’s the successor to the Golf Plus. At 4,338 mm long, the new Sportsvan is 134 mm longer than the Golf Plus, and 83 mm longer than the Golf.  Its 2,685 mm wheelbase is 48 mm longer than that of the Golf, helping to generate more interior space, while the Sportsvan is also 80 mm wider, at 1,870 mm, and 126 mm higher, at 1,578 mm (excluding roof rails).  Inside, the rear seats (60:40 split bench) can slide forwards and backwards by up to 180 mm, to increase either passenger or luggage space as required. Boot capacity is increased by 74 litres to 498 litres (Golf 380). Moving the rear seats increases the luggage space to 585 litres, while folding them down releases 1,512 litres. Powering the Sportsvan will be a range of petrol and diesel engines, all of which conform to Euro 6 emissions standards and …
