Turned off by new sci-fi effort

IT was a busy Easter Bank Holiday weekend in TV-land but little in the way of Easter eggs on show, bar some live chicks hatching at some stage in what looked like a leftover scene from Springwatch. It culminated with Games of Thrones returning to screens on Monday night but I won’t start there.

Tipperary   3-19    Clare    1-14THERE can be no arguments with the result in Clare’s final-round league tie in Division 1 of the National Hurling League. At Semple Stadium on Sunday, Tipperary were far superior and had their place in the semi-finals sealed long before the final whistle.

Every inch matters for Clare

CLARE and Rory Donnelly, in particular, have developed a recent fondness for scoring goals that they could have blown over the line. Both goals against London were finished from a few inches, as was Donnelly’s goal against Carlow. David Tubridy’s goal against Leitrim was from long range, in that he was at least four inches out when he deflected Mark McCarthy’s pass to the net. Clare have yet to kick a league goal in 2013.

First-half goals deflate London

Clare   2-14   London   0-8 BEATING London and securing a promotion-deciding match against Limerick was Clare’s priority last Saturday in Cusack Park. First-half goals from Rory Donnelly and Gary Brennan, with David Tubridy involved in setting up both, established a buffer between the teams and helped the Banner record a comfortable win.

Kelly shows class as ‘Bridge strike late to draw

Sixmilebridge   0-13    Ballyea   0-13IT was always going to be a titanic battle between U-21A title-holders, Ballyea and Sixmilebridge and so it proved to be at Clarecastle. It took an excellent point from Seadna Morey in the fourth minute of injury time to earn the ’Bridge a second shot at a final place.

McGrath leads the way for Feakle-Killanena

Feakle-Killanena   0-14    O’Callaghan’s Mills   0-10 FEAKLE-Killanena sealed their place in the final with a hard-fought win in a tight contest against O’Callaghan’s Mills. The pitch was in perfect condition but the strong gale blowing straight down the field made playing conditions very hard for both teams.
