The Gathering not a new concept

THERE cannot be many people left who have not, at this stage, heard of The Gathering – the year-long tourism promotion aimed at increasing visitor numbers to the country. People are beginning to engage with the idea and most communities have some series of events planned during 2013. Admittedly, there are some of the Gabriel Byrne school of thought, who reckon it is simply saying to the Irish Diaspora, “Come here this year, we need your money”.

Capturing the spirit of inspiration

ON Friday, April 12, Patrick O’Dwyer’s biography of Feakle-born Fr Tim Tuohy will be launched in the Bellbridge House Hotel, Spanish Point. The book is an account of Fr Tuohy’s life in the priesthood and his contribution to the Clare parishes, Kilmurry Ibrickane, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Broadford and Killaloe. It also chronicles his sporting and coaching excellence.

Family Gathering brings Kerins together

A very special invitation to a gathering in Ennis is about to go out all over the world to the relatives of one local family. Alice Kerin Flaherty, whose father’s family hailed from Steele’s Terrace, has organised a family reunion in Ennis this summer.
