Over 220 make national finals

Clare Community Games has 223 children qualified for finals at the National Festival of Sport in Athlone from May 24 to 26. They will participate in both sporting and cultural events over the weekend.

Kilnaboy runner retains ‘home’ 10-mile title

Kilnaboy’s Michael Shannon made history when he retained his title at the 29th annual Michael (Sonny) Murphy Memorial 10-mile road race and 6km fun walk. The event was held in very windy conditions and, again this year, attracted a fine turnout of competitors with 60 walkers and more than 120 athletes from all over Ireland competing. The race incorporated the Clare AAI Road Championship.

Fergus Rovers tops in 13-a-side

Fergus Rovers   3-13      Coolmeen   2-5 Fergus Rovers faced Coolmeen in round two of the Division 2 of the ladies’ football league last Friday evening. The game was 13-a-side, as the Coolmeen are struggling with numbers this season and were unable to field a full team.
