Dromore Wood Stroll for 250-mile cycle

If you go down to the woods in May you are sure of a big surprise. The invitation is to ­everyone to come on out to Dromore Woods in Ruan on Sunday, May 12 at 12 noon to experience the magic of a place that is beautiful, peaceful and where one can reach into the very depths of their own souls. The magic of the woods is coming alive after a long winter’s sleep. The forest floor is teeming with wildlife and the big oak and sycamore trees are hiding the squirrels and pine martins along with all the species of birds that nest in the tree branches. U-14 championship produces exciting fare

Truagh-Clonlara 7-3   Broadford 0-3 TRUAGH-Clonlara proved too strong for Broadford in Clonlara on Wednesday evening in the U-14 Camogie Championship. Laura Foley opened the scoring with a point from a 45’ free and Róisín Begley added a point from play. Begley added a goal from play, followed shortly by a fine strike from 20m by Rebecca Foley that finished in the net. Truagh added two more goals, one by Begley and the second by Louise Egan.

Cahill’s goal decides East Clare derby

  Tulla United A 0   Mountshannon Celtic 1The battle for semi-final places got underway at the Cragg in Tulla at 10.30am on Sunday morning with this East Clare derby. The home side carried the favourites’ tag but when the final whistle sounded it was the visitors who have made their way through to the last four. The all-important goal came half an hour into the second half. John O’Brien’s free kick from the left wing was met powerfully by Raymond Cahill who rose highest to head the ball into the corner of Dara Kelly’s net. It brought a strong response from the home side who piled on the pressure in search of an equaliser. They came close on a few occasions but a combination of good goalkeeping from Colm Kavanagh and the woodwork denied them. Sixmilebridge book semi-final spot

Sixmilebridge 3-21   Truagh-Clonlara 2-5 RUNNERS-up in Group A, Sixmilebridge dominated throughout in their Division 1 League quarter-final against Truagh-Clonlara who were third in Group B. Sixmilebridge scored shortly after the throw-in, with Chloe Morey converting a 45’ after early pressure. Morey added a trademark long-range free and Sixmilebridge added another from play to go three up after five minutes.

Nash has to dig deep to claim national title

The 2013 adult Irish nationals have concluded at venues throughout Ulster, with the open titles going to Diarmaid Nash of Clare and Antrim’s Aisling Reilly. Following a packed weekend of action, it was semi-finals and finals day on Sunday and a feast of handball was in store for enthusiasts at the Ulster venues.
