2013 programme up and running

MUNSTER Group Clare Community Games’ programme for 2013 is up and running. The first event of the season is indoor soccer and the closing date for entries is Tuesday. The competition this year is for U-10 boys and girls and U-13 boys and girls. The competitions will be held on December 8 and 15.

Area awards
THE HSE Community Games Area awards will be held this Saturday in the Shearwater Hotel, Ballinasloe. The most involved area in the county, Quin/Clooney will represent Clare. They will be hoping to repeat what Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry achieved last year and maybe go one further and win the national title.

Their success is due to the hard work done by the volunteers who coach teams and individuals in the many events in Community Games.

The adult and youth volunteer awards will also be presented on Saturday. Flan Brennan is the Clare nominee and he has been selected for his hard work and dedication to Community Games. Flan co-ordinates the soccer and futsal every year.

The youth selected for the award this year is Paula Loughnane of Quin/Clooney. Paula volunteers at area, county, Munster and national events.

Area AGM
ALL areas should by now have held their AGM, as each area needs to be registered and insured before competitions begin. If an area requires a member of the county executive or development committee to attend their AGM, they should let the secretary know.

In order to encourage and support areas in the current economic climate, all new areas coming on board for the first time will be sponsored by national and the registration fee and insurance are free.  

Keep Clare Clean competition
THE Keep Clare Clean competition is continuing this year. Areas have now submitted their entries for county adjudication. The exhibition of posters and poems and the presentation of county medals will be held on Friday, December 7, at 8pm in Ennis Town Council Offices, Civic Room, Waterpark House, Drumbiggle Road, Ennis.

Healthy Events Awards 2013
AT the Clare AGM, Áine O’Sullivan from the national committee gave a presentation on the HSE Community Games Healthy Events Awards. All registered Community Games are eligible to participate. Areas can fill in the application form by December 3 and have until September 16, 2013 to submit evidence that their actions have been carried out.

Friday, February 22 and 23, 2013: National AGM, Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore.
Saturday, March 30: Munster finals – Tralee.
September 16: Closing date to submit HSE Community Games Healthy Events.
